Tekst en spel zijn beide vlijmscherp in deze verrukkelijke relatiekomedie.NRC
Vera and Sinem’s desire to become parents quickly evaporates when they discover that both want to carry the child to see ‘their own genes reflected’. At the couple's regular Friday afternoon drinks with Vera’s brother Bram and his boyfriend Manu, the siblings pitch a solution for this unfulfilled desire to have children. An out-of-the-box plan, of which they have no idea how it will be received by their partners.
With this "comedy of the year" (NRC), Compagnie Red Yellow & Blue offers a respectful nod to Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? - the renowned relationship drama by Edward Albee - and turns it into a dark kitchen table comedy. It focuses on queer thirty-somethings and the relationship issues of today. Daan van Bendegem penned it down in sharp dialogues and paints a portrait of a generation in which queer Millennials struggle with disheartening challenges, but are also hilariously relatable.
