During the first ACT festival, Laura Kalauz and Martin Schick impressed audiences with their intelligent and at times hilarious performance ‘CMMN SNS PRJCT’. Now Kalauz returns with a new project in which she works with her Argentine compatriot Sofía Medici. In ‘Science Fiction Future’s Nostalgy’, a coproduction by deSingel, they examine the extinct Ona tribe of Patagonia (southern Argentina). Following Spanish and British colonization, these hunter-gatherers were placed in isolated reserves or used as slaves. The last Ona, Lola Kiepkja, died in 1966. The two makers from Buenos Aires return to pre-colonial times, looking for the world-view and the logic of the Ona. How would history have evolved if this indigenous tribe had not been wiped out? What forms of politics and economy would have developed? Which idea of ownership would this have produced?
We guarantee you a pleasurably outlandish evening, full of imagination/ fantasy and commitment!
