In this work in progress presentation performer and maker Zuzanna Sosnowska will share the excerpts of her new piece, inspired by the devotion of Saint Teresa of Ávila reintroduced in the context of late capitalism. Save us from the void concentrates on the connection between the void, often associated with a lack of meaning and higher purpose in life experienced by atheists and post-Catholics, and spiritual materialism, a phenomenon describing consumption of rituals and practices, belonging to other cultures, by consumers from Global North, to achieve direct profit, whether monetary or symbolic. Can spiritual materialism save us from the void?
