During the Young Makers Festival, Justin Dirkx and Ayrton Eblé guide your gaze through the public space in and around DE SINGEL. What is permitted, and what is not permitted? With Traffic Signs Traffic Signsthe artists create a playing field in which they critically question the public space. Road signs, temporary fencing and road markings become found objects in their installation. By taking out of context objects that symbolise our safety, the artists call our understanding of them into question. Where do the boundaries of the playing field lie? Who defines the rules of the game? How do you provide space for both individual freedom and a collective feeling of safety? In this project, the questions are more important than the answers.
