François ChaignaudДуми моi (2013)
19:00 / Small Hall / 30 min.
Many people considered this piece - Думи моi - to be one of the highlights of the 2014 BOUGE B, and now it is on again. In this dance solo, co-produced by deSingel, François Chaignaud enters the realm of ritual. He does not want to reveal anything about what you will see there. But we would like to pass on these words of his, noted down at the start of the creative process: 'I dream of this piece as an antidote to the rituals of Western theatre, to its frontality, its adherence to a particular time, its power relationships. Thanks to its intimacy and its proximity, you can enjoy its refined exuberance to the full. A little like the Theyyam rituals in Malabar. To the rhythm of enthralling Ukrainian, Philippine or Sephardic melodies, I imagine this multilingual recital as a winding sequence of dance and song.'

Fabian BarbaA Mary Wigman Dance Evening (2009)
20:00 / Theatre Studio / 60 min.
'A Mary Wigman Dance Evening', seen during BOUGE B in 2010, is a timeless gem by the Ecuadorean dancer Fabian Barba: well worth showing once again. During his studies, Barba became fascinated by the work of Mary Wigman, one of the pioneers of modern dance.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, this German dance artist created choreographic works that were extremely revolutionary for the time. For 'A Mary Wigman Dance Evening', Fabian Barba reconstructed several solos from her oeuvre. He didn't find it odd that a man should do this: 'I don't try to be a woman, only to reconstruct the movements as precisely as possible. Wigman's dances are very dynamic. You could call them unisex.'
