Bertrand Mandico
ANTICINEMA
Discover the groundbreaking work of visionary French filmmaker Bertrand Mandico.
For CARTA '24, Mandico is putting together three diverse programmes of film and performance. His sketches, drawings and objects will also be on display. Mandico's anti-cinema is cinema that allows itself to be influenced by techniques and forms of presentation from other art disciplines. Thus, performances become film, or films become installations. Mandico's cinema looks beyond the usual conventions and methodologies of the film world.
Central to the three-day film programme is Mandico's long-standing collaboration with actress Elina Löwensohn. Together, they have been creating the project 20+1 Projections since 2011. Over 21 years, they will film 21 short films about getting older and desire.
