Writer and director Rimah Jabr grew up in Palestine. Through her studies at the RITCS and her many collaborations with the new generation of Flemish theatre makers, she finds a unique combination between both worlds. Her work is characterised by a bizarre lightness and absurdity. During CARTA, Jabr presents her latest performance. In it she looks at the many attacks carried out by teenagers in Palestine in 2015 and 2016. The teens, all children aged between 10 and 15, were shot dead or sentenced to years in prison. The series of almost daily knife attacks by these lone wolves reflected the hopelessness and despair among the young people of Palestine. They wanted to send a message to the world, but were unable to convey this in ordinary language. Their bodies passed on the message instead. With This is NOT what I want to tell you, Jabr brings the story of one of these loners to life in an intriguing mix of audio, performance and installation art.
