CARTA 22 charts a new generation of trendsetting artists
“What language do we have for the unknowable? What words for a mystery that is unthinkable?”
Anne Michaels
CARTA, a new biennial festival of creation, defies definition. For ten days, you’ll be immersed in the creations of a new generation of trendsetting artists. Video art, installations, new music, film concerts, ongoing performances, dance, fashion, post-internet theatre… CARTA 22 creates a landscape map of contemporary evolutions in the arts. The festival includes both an exhibition and a live arts programme, at the crossroads of a variety of disciplines. For this edition, the 2017 booklet Infinite Gradation by Anne Michaels serves as the starting point, an ode to the power of mystery, which according to Michaels is encapsulated in the very substance of our existence. Navigating between themes such as love and death, she seeks out the philosophical and emotional foundations of languages and explores what makes art art.
With new creations by artists including Wu Tsang, Pauline Boudry & Renate Lorenz, Stef van Looveren, Lulu Obermayer, Maika Garnica, Ellen Arkbro, Begüm Erciyas, Khadija El Kharraz Alami, Linah Dalifa and Collectif Faire-Part.
