An uncompromising theatre experience in which female vulnerability takes centre stage
Keep an eye on the name of theatre maker Khadija El Kharraz Alami. She takes over the theatre stagewith unprecedented courage and a vulnerable energy. Her new performance TheWaves, is not only based on the eponymous book by Virginia Woolf, but also on essays by figures including Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Audre Lorde and Simon(e) van Saarloos. The Waves becomes a ritual, a manifesto, an immersive experience in which female beauty, vulnerability and pain are central. Together with 4 young actresses, El Kharraz Alami wants to explore how deeply internalised experiences of oppression and abuse of power can be transformed into a creative force. The Waves proposes a physical space where we dare to look trauma in the eye, pleasure is celebrated, the body is blessed and the power of creation is shared. Expect an urgent and uncompromising theatrical experience.
