Maika Garnica gets to work with ceramic sound boxes.
For CARTA 22, Maika Garnica will work with ceramic sound boxes. She brings together a number of musicians around different sound objects, such as ceramic plates that produce different sounds due to the different firing procedures. In this way, and in combination with the individuality of each musician, the Ballard Garden becomes a sound pool. Around "the pool", a dozen speakers are set up. The visitor is invited to take a seat within this physical, acoustic space; sitting, standing, lying down, walking. A special experience in which the relationship between body and sound is played and questioned.
The installation is made in collaboration with Atelier Scheldeman.
