As a deep listening adherent, Arkbro promises an experience that will continue to resonate
The Swedish avant garde composer Ellen Arkbro does not give much away. Both the title and the artwork of her two albums, For Organ and Brass from 2017 and CHORDS from 2019, excel in restraint. Knowing nothing only serves to enhance the listening experience. Arkbro is a prominent champion of 'deep listening'. The meditative tempo of her music is like staring at big clouds and finding dinosaurs, according to Pitchfork. For CARTA 22 the young composer composes a new work, performed by the famous Ictus ensemble. This will be a live concert in which Arkbro activates the string and wind instruments in a new and different way. As a result the concert feels as though it is multiplying and a sonorous space is created. The viewer almost self-evidently becomes part of this new space, in which the sound completely takes over. A musical experience that will continue to resonate long after it ends.
