‘Revelations’ starts with the text ‘Visions’ in which the 13th-century poet and mystic Hadewijch of Antwerp describes an ecstatic romantic relationship with the divine Other. In this multimedia project, there is a search for the power of visionary imagination and ecstasy in a contemporary context. Soprano Lore Binon performs the hypnotic siren song and contrasts this with the crystal, angelic voices of the Vlaams Radiokoor. Wim Henderickx himself provides percussion accompaniment, alongside the soloists of HERMESensemble. The electronic carpet of sound is from Jorrit Tamminga. With ‘Revelations’ Wim Henderickx composed timeless and compelling music for the eponymous musical theatre work of director Wouter Van Looy who for ‘Revelations’ creates an installation with light and smoke in which footage by video artist Kurt d’Haeseleer alludes to Hadewijch’s mysticism.
