7 artists work for a three-week period at DE SINGEL on a series of new rituals
In her workspace for unacknowledged loss, Beyond the Spoken, Barbara Raes creates new rituals designed to integrate an experience of loss into life. Since March 2020, we have been living in an altered reality in which concepts such as loss and grief are viewed through a different lens. Because saying goodbye has demanded a different kind of closeness over the past year, this is the ideal moment to reflect on these new forms of bidding farewell. The zone in which art, rituals and healthcare meet is fertile ground in which to develop innovative and sustainable practices for the future. Through an open call, 7 artists will be selected for a three-week residency at DE SINGEL. This will comprise one week of inspiration, workshops and discussions, followed by two weeks of creation and coaching. The work process will conclude by sharing the new rituals with the public.
