The first edition of BLUEPRINT concludes with a big dance performance from the heart of London. Botis Seva, choreographer from the collective Far From The Norm, last year won the Chanel Next Prize for emerging talent. This year he is our guest at DE SINGEL with a piece about coping mechanisms and the parallels between childhood and adulthood. He says of his performance: ‘BLKDOG is for everyone who has experienced trauma and sorrow. For everyone who has seen family members go through a depression or loss. We live in a society where talking about our emotions may never be understood; I went through my youth without talking about my emotions and now at the age of 30 I can finally speak my mind about this.’
The music grew out of a long-term collaboration with Torben Lars Sylvest and comprises a mix of original music and words that adds layers of meaning. The light from the hand of Tom Visser brings a dark smog of disillusionment, whilst the hoods and quilted costumes of Ryan Laight are an echo of the protection and comfort of childhood. Thus BLKDOG is the grand apotheosis of the first edition of BLUEPRINT.
