On the opening evening, the dance spectacle Les Ombres will absorb you completely into their world. The dancer and choreographer Antoinette Gomis and director Cyril Machenaud are the brains behind this tantalising big picture, which tells the story of a refugee who is searching for a better world. Via striking images and taut hip-hop moves, his path takes him through disappointments and friendships. The courage of the main character takes centre stage and serenely shows the vulnerability of refugees, who leave everything behind to find a better life. Les Ombres is a whirlwind of emotions, where hip-hop goes hand in hand with traditional African dances, breakdance, waacking, house and sign language. Shadows and light accentuate the choreographies, which will undoubtedly burn on in your brain for some time after the performance. A highly topical piece, based on the family story of Gomis herself.
