With fashion designer Rida Habib Allah and photographer Adel Setta the Antwerp-based musician and visual artist Youniss set off for Morocco, where they found inspiration for the costumes of White Space. During the show he forges a path through the uncomfortable, intrusive feelings that go hand in hand with performing as a black man with an Arabic name through the gaze of the Western world. In the performative translation of this project, Youniss and his drummer Tim Caramin draw you into Youniss's discomfort through music, costume design, props and projections. White Space paints an extremely honest picture of the quest for self-expression and identity, in which the core of his artistic drive comes to the fore. The performance is a collaboration with the Ghent hiphop festival Out The Frame and the release of Youniss’s latest album White Space (March 2023)!
