Christelle Fillod is an artist and Yukiko Shinozaki is a choreographer and dancer. In 'Breaking through the roof of its house' they explore the limitations of our visual and auditory senses on the basis of the observation that most physical reality actually lies beyond the reach of human perception. For this performance Fillod has created a limitless space, comparable to a black hole. It is here that Yukiko Shinozaki takes her place and, dancing, seeks new forms with which to move the body. Physical references disappear and reality constantly shifts.
Shinozaki met Fillod during production of 'Splayed mind out' by Gary Hill and Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods. After a number of tryouts and preliminary studies, 'Breaking through the roof of its house', which is their first collaborative venture, will open during dedonderdagen #6. This solo performance will form the basis for a group piece which will be created later this year under the title 'Inner Horizon'.
