A meditative performance on life, death and nature.
In བྱ་རྒོད། / VULTURES, composer and performer Jamie Man collaborates with BL!NDMAN to create an auditory ritual in which life and death coexist. With drone speakers, vocal mantras, field recordings, animal sounds, saxophones, and electronics, a meditative soundscape emerges.
The work is inspired by the Tibetan sky burial, where bodies are entrusted to vultures. In this tradition, the dead become sustenance for the living, and their souls symbolically ascend with the birds - a transformation that connects humans with nature.
VULTURES reflects on the fragility of humans and animals in a world marked by war, climate crises, and migration. The performance is a musical vigil for bodies lost to the water, reminding us of the delicate bond between life, death, and nature.
