Dressing rooms, airports, hotel lobbies: they can be inspiring places, certainly when you meet a kindred spirit there. It happened to the two cellists Bo Wiget and Simon Lenski, while they were involved in the creation and tour of 'Visitors Only' (Damaged Goods/Meg Stuart). It seems that 'opposites attract'. Wiget works on the complex electronic distortion of acoustic material and uses it to create abstract sound settings. Lenski is a member of Die Anarchistische Abentunterhaltung. After a series of improvisations, plans were made for an intensive exploration of each other's musical worlds. The result is a many-layered work based on compositions written out beforehand but which, during the rehearsals in Antwerp, were supplemented with improvisation, electronic distortion and acoustic elements. Soon on sale in shops, but dedonderdagen is serving up the live premiere.
