aki is a young jazz collective from Antwerp, conceived in the musical brain of drummer and composer Anke Verslype. Thanks to the unusual mix of harp and electric guitars, aki has a distinct individual sound. The group performs narrative, instrumental music that transports you on a stream of warmth and melancholy, like a trip through filmic sound landscapes. Underpinning it all are minimalistic melodies whose boundaries are shifted during improvisation. Aki’s first full album is expected in the autumn.
